The main landscape goals for this project were to improve spatial and visual quality of pedestrian space, to relate the outdoor space visually and spatially to the building, to provide landscape treatments that are cost-effective to maintain, as well as to ensure the ADA compliance of all pedestrian spaces and paths. The design features includE an entrance plaza in the southwest of the Library, seating area at the Performing Arts Center entrance, permeable paving path, planting beds with a perennial/grass mix in both the east and the west of the Library, micro-bioretention areas in the south, tree-lined paths, and an extensive green roof on top of the Library addition.
